Motivated
and ready to meet your AESS project vision!
Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel (AESS) is being used in building projects more than ever. Newport Industrial Fabrication has aggressively positioned itself to meet the requirements of this trend. In 2001 we implemented an all new three-dimensional modeling software package. Wheel blast and paint areas were added in 2002 along with an additional storage area.
These facility improvements, combined with our highly motivated and creative fabricators, form a fabrication team that looks forward to the challenges of AESS. In addition to qualified personnel and specialized facilities Newport Industrial Fabrication has a management team dedicated to meeting the architect’s vision.
Newport Industrial Fabrication has been doing special exposed steel treatments for years. Clients include institutions such as Baxter School for Deaf, Maine Maritime Academy and Boston Children’s Museum. Newport Industrial Fabrication’s two most recent and demanding examples of AESS are the Newark Airport Air Train Canopies and the Stillwell Avenue Train Station, NYC.

From conception to completion, NIF is prepared to meet your specialized project needs. One such project, The Stillwell Avenue Train Station, has required several custom handling devices to maintain the AESS tolerances and appearance standards.
◄ Layout tables and substantial jigs are required to assure repeatable
parts.
Temporary primed steel blocking is bolted onto the faying surface, reducing wood blocking and the coating damage related to it.▼
Trusses are handled in the vertical position while painting. This eliminates saw horse supports and requires no touch-up thus increasing through put in the paint
shop.▼
Fork Truck mounted up- righter, handles the trusses at their center of gravity with padded cradles. This puts a minimum amount of stress on the structure and protects coatings.
